FTS readers from the beginning will know that we have a soft spot for poetry. Terrible poetry. And as the temperatures start to drop, and students make their way back to the UMaine campus, well… We just get so inspired. So terribly inspired. You’ve been warned. Without further ado, Fill The Steins presents… An Ode to Back To School
An Ode to Back to School
Summer is over, it’s back-to-school time.
Poetry is hard. Something… something… rhyme.
Soon there will be life in dorms and in class;
Black Bear Football will be back at the A.S.S.
Neville Hall, Coburn Hall, and DPC
Will soon be hopping with math and Chem-E’s.
Business and nursing, finance and fine arts
From Hilltop to York, kids come to get smarts.
Fall is the time, for students and alums
To revisit times with pals and old chums.
Homecoming’s coming, you must know by now;
Good times with old friends, cold beer and hot chow.
The Black Bears will trounce those pesky Great Danes;
Let’s hope for good weather – none of that rain.
Don’t have a ticket? No need to despair!
Give Orono a ring: 581-BEAR!
Performances, art, history abound.
Students are coming! They’ll soon be around!
They read up on sports, on famous folks, too.
On smartphones and tablets, from here to Peru.
Orono’s buzzing with so much to do;
For those who are looking, here’s a big clue:
Games, tailgates, and food – or go see a show.
